There are many examples of Jesus having a great care for children but the words often brought to mind are:
'Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’'
Luke 4:16-17
With such a range of ages in a parish, Children's Liturgy of the Word is a chance for younger children to explore and gain a better understanding of the readings by learning in their own way. We welcome any children from Reception through to Year 3 to join Children's Liturgy when they are invited at the beginning of the Mass. They are taken by the leaders to the parish room to hear the Gospel and to take part in an activity based on the reading. The children will return before the offertory and share something of what they have been doing before returning to their family.
We currently have a group of adults who are on a rota to lead Children's Liturgy every few weeks and would be happy to the team if you feel you may have the skills to help. We need adults who have a passion to share the joy of the Gospel, can work well with children, and who need to have, or be willing to have, Safeguarding training and a DBS check before working with the children.
If you are interested in becoming part of the Children's Liturgy team please make yourself known to one of our priests and, after a small amount of training and meeting the rest of the team, we will hope to add you to the team and rota.
